Mrs. Martin is the mother of Robert, Elizabeth, and another daughter. While Harriet Smith stays at Abbey Mill Farm, she encourages her relationship with Robert. She tells Harriet that no one could be a better son than Robert and she was sure he would make a good husband. When Harriet returns to Mrs. Goddard's school, Mrs. Martin sends a goose for Mrs. Goddard and the teachers. She likes Harriet, saying their Welsh cow should be called her cow because she is so fond of it and commenting on how she has grown.
