Mrs. Jenkinson is the former governess of Anne de Bourgh, who stayed on at Rosings after her education was complete as her companion. She is an old woman with an unremarkable appearance, and she is wholly absorbed in serving Miss de Bourgh and fussing over her. Lady Catherine de Bourgh has found positions for four of her nieces.

Lady Catherine tells Elizabeth Bennet she is welcome to come to Rosings during her stay and practice on the pianoforte in Mrs. Jenkinson's room because she wouldn't be in anybody's way in that part of the house.
