Mr. Charles Musgrove, Esq. of Uppercross in Somerset is a character in Persuasion. He is father to Charles Musgrove, his heir[1], two grown daughters, Louisa and Henrietta Musgrove, and four younger children still at school, the youngest named Harry. He is married to Mrs. Musgrove, and has two grandchildren from Charles and his wife Mary. Mr. Musgrove is a man of consequence and very wealthy. Unlike Sir Walter Elliot, his finances are not suffering. In Somerset, he rivals Sir Walter in landed property and importance even though he does not have a baronetcy, which irks Sir Walter.[2]
