Lady Lascelle is an acquaintance of Mary Crawford. Two years ago, she leased the same house in Wimpole Street now leased by James and Maria Rushworth. Mary, who visited her there, says she prefers the house to almost any she knows in London and notes that Henry Crawford couldn't have afforded it, suggesting Lady Lascelle is considerably wealthier than the master of Everingham with four thousand pounds a year.
