Lady Elliott is the wife of Robert Ferrars's friend Elliott. She lives in a cottage near Dartford. According to Robert, she wanted to give a dance in her cottage but didn't think there was enough room for ten couples, only for Robert to measure the dining-parlor and show there was room for eighteen. Robert convinced her to put the card-tables in the drawing-room, the refreshments in the library, and supper in the saloon.
