Donwell Abbey is an estate located near Highbury, a fictional village in Emma by Jane Austen. It is about a mile away from the village. It is the family seat of the Knightley family, and is owned by George Knightley, a wealthy gentleman. After the marriage of Mr. Knightley and Emma Woodhouse, Mr. Knightley moves to Hartfield to live there with Emma and Mr. Woodhouse for as long as Mr. Woodhouse needs his daughter.
